Mush (pronounced Moosh) is a Romany/Traveller word from the the Indian word Manush , It means man. It is now used a lot in Southampton (where I live and come from )as a local greeting E,g, "hello or Whats on mush ?" So if you come from Southampton in England , sorry but your are officially (cause I say so :-) a MUSH

Mush (pronounced Moosh) is a Romany Gypsy word deriving from the Indian word Manush meaning man. It has been adopted in Southampton England (where I live) as a local sort of greeting between men. EG "hello Mush " it is also a recognised name for somebody who comes from Southampton (man or woman). So such as a "Scouser" comes from Liverpoool. A "Geordie" from Newcastle and a "Brummy" comes from Birmingham then if you come from Southampton then your a "Mush" :-)
