I am researching Christopher Columbus and how he named the Virgin Islands, I would like to find out why he named them after St. Ursula if she died in 383B.C and he did not discover the Islands until 1493.

Actually, St. Ursula died at the hands of the Huns in 383 A.D.

The full name applied to the islands by C. Columbus is Santa Ursula y las Once Mil Virgines in honor of Ursula and her (some say) 11,000 virgins...
