Washing Machine repair
6 Answers
Hi
My washing machine broke down last night (it kept going for hours but there was water still in it) and I am moving from the rented flat on staurday so i asked a maintenace man that has delt with the boiler to have a look at it. It's 8 years old so i had a plan to have it taken away by the council for £20. I'm being charged £50 for 1 hours work, no parts were used, he just drained the machine (which i think he made a meal of)
Should it cost £50?
Thanks

blue2: Here is a report on how it is done inAmerica. I just got my good old machine fixed. We had to haul into the nearest repair place. (50 miles). I don't know what I would have done if I had to empty the water out it. Would have had to figure something out.
My problem was that my machine was leaking when it took in water.
It cost $70, for them to look at it and assess the repair problem. We discussed this ahead of time. I am glad I wasn't surprised with it., paying that fee upfront. I was fortunate in that they only found a bad valve, part , which cost about $70. Then they upclogged a screen in the intake hose, so the entire repair came to $170 including labor. It is a very old machine that is a real work horse, not like they make them. nowadays in outer Mongolia.
