London shopping visit
19 Answers
My wife and daughter are going shopping and doing touristy things in London on the 3rd 4th 5th Dec. It seems all hotels in central London is booked up at that time.
Can anyone suggest a nice hotel or inn that is near a tube station outer city centre?? Thanks in advance.

suppose it will depend on difference between that and the cost of a central hotel too.
2 nights (3rd and 4th) are £139 a room at the premier inn.
somewhere midway, like the Guoman Tower hotel is £169 a night per room
theres also the Hilton Docklands which is south bank but has its own jetty for the river buses. Thats quoting £101 for a twin room per night on those dates

Thanks for the input everyone. Lots of info there. I didn`t realise that getting about London was so tricky! It seems the lines from outer city ie Ruilslip, require a few station changes? Being a country boy this is all new ground!! I wondered then if the Hilton via water taxi may be the best option? My good lady and daughter will be fully loaded with shopping, and im thinking may be problematic!! Many thanks again.
I've just googled hotels in Southampton Row which is central, and served by Russell Square tube, they have vacancies for those dates.

Not normally - most have through tube services to central London. Maybe not the exact station you want - but somewhere near it.
And with a travelcard or Oyster the cost is not a lot different to staying in the centre. The time it takes is the problem - particularly if you want to return to the hotel in the day and then go back for more retail therapy.
