How much would it cost to send a printer from the Yemen to the USA? surely this must have raised someones suspicions about this package.. why would anyone actually send one over there. It would be cheaper to buy one in the usa than to send one over from the yemen or am i missing something.. One way of stopping these things getting on board a plane is to have a weight limit on parcels ..anything heavy could go by boat..

And why would a package addressed to a synagogue in the US Presidents home city not arouse suspicion in Yemen?
^^ yes indeed.
To correct you, it wasn't a printer, but a toner-cartridge...

Still doesn't make it right though.
I think that any package destined to the US should be treated with suspicion. These terrorists have nothing else in mind except creating havoc in the US and the minnows like Britrain are not often considered. It is only our kama kazi attitude in getting involved in the war on terror that have caused casualties in the first place. If we are to tackle our airport security we should do like the US and relax it on internal flights.

I stand corrected NAZ.. but even that must be a strange thing to post from there.
I heard on the news last night - one of them responsible for this was a released prisioner from Guantameno Bay (sorry not the correct spelling).

I wonder what all the sympathisers think now !
Perhaps it was

Remember the Americans were tipped off by the Saudis

This was an attack not thwarted by soldiers but by diplomats keeping the relationship between the US and Saudi good enough for themm to feel comfortable warning the Americans
The bomb was in the toner cartridge........*inside* the body of the printer. The printer and other assorted items were in a cardboard box.

Makes the blood run cold, really..........
Perhaps DEN53 they think you shouldn't jump to believing everything you hear on TV.

Let me guess - Sky news?
No actually it was BBC1 last night's news.
Well I don't see it on their web site now

This seems to be the main man

Are you calling me a liar Jake ?
http://www.dailymail....anamo-Bay-inmate.html

First two paragraphs, jake.

This confirms what Den has to say............it doesn't confirm the degree of truth behind the story.
Hello Jack - how you feeling now - are you up and about ?
I am, thank you, Den. Well, mostly..........:o)
Frank Gardner - BBC Security Correspondent reported it on News last night.
I wish you well Jack xx
No read that again.

It doesn't say he was responsible for this - it says he gave information about the plot.

No I'm not calling you a liar - just saying it's important to check things before jumping to conclusions
