I have been asked if i had a wireless router!
What is it please?

A wireless router is a box with one or two little aerials on it that allows your broadband signal to be transmitted (wireless = radio) to one or more computers in your home. You can place the router anywhere in your home (best place is a central location) and the broadband signal can be transmitted to your computers. The computers don't have to be wired to the router. They don't even need to be next to the router.

what if you want to take the notebook --camping--spain--anywhere!
Would you still need a router or maybe what they call a dongle or something?

If you want to take your notebook out and about, you would either need a USB dongle to connect to the mobile network, or a wireless hotspot to connect to. There are lots of them about, but the dongle is probably your best bet if you're out in the wilds of nowhere (but still with an available signal).

If you're going abroad, then a dongle bought here probably wouldn't work (I've never tried it), and you may have to rely on local wireless hotspots.

A router would be only used in your home to connect to your internet provider - it can be either wired or wireless.

usb dongle seems to be the thing I'm inquiring about! (inc outdoor use)
