i read they was going to let him sing in his final scene as he is a singer but they always made him sing out of tune in the show so as he was leaving he was gonna sing inn his own way but am i wrong in thinking that the record playing was matt monroe it sounded like him

Apparently, he was singing the version of "The wind beneath my wings" playing on the juke-box as he left the Rovers.......

They should have let him sing himself out - singing to Vera in that 'ghost' sequence - that would have been brilliant.

That Matt Monroe was sang at my father-in-laws funeral and had me in floods. To have heard the character of Jack crooning it would have been a brilliant send-off (Mind you, he wouldn't have been 'leaving' Vera - he'd have been joining her..... but it still would have been very poignant - and I still would have been in floods)
wonder if son Terry will come back for the funeral ?
