Any cure for insomnia - drugless if possible?

Relaxation and deep breathing: lying in bed start by pulling your toes back towards you while trying to push your heels away for 5 secs then relax. Repeat with calfs (calves?) thighs, butt, stomach, clenched fists, shrugged shoulders and relax.
Now breathe in through your nose for a count of three then out through your mouth for a count of four or five. Repeat until you feel relaxed then concentrate on the regular in/out of ordinary breathing.

St Johns Wort cured mine, turns out my insomnia was due to the winter blues kicking in. It is a herbal tablet, but relaxes me.
I don't know if you get the blues or not, but may be worth a try? Quite cheap in Sainsbury's. I tried Nytol first but had terrible dreams with them, Now, my husband says how well I sleep, because he can hear me!

Do you have insomnia, or are you just sleeping a the wrong time ?
I mean, do you have difficulty in getting off to sleep then sleep in, or are you just not sleeping at all ?
If you're not sleeping at all, then you probably could do with a check up from the GP.
If it's that you're sleeping at the wrong times, then making yourself get up at whatever hour would be normal for you 7am, 8am etc no matter how little sleep you have had should eventually get you right. Then no cat-napping during the day. It's hard to do, but it works.

Daft I know but I used to try and say in my head, all the words of the NATO Phonic alphabet. Alpha, Bravo, Charlie etc. It worked but only for as long until I got it off pat.
Also, try to think of a famous person that you can't remember but can see in your mind, by going through the alphabet letter by letter.
I used to drop off, probably because it was so boring.
