Anyone been on a short break in Ireland? What's it like? Is it expensive? Where to go - near an airport please.

For a first visit though, Dublin is definitely a good place to start. (There's quite a bit to do and to see, without needing a car - as you might do elsewhere in Ireland).

If you fancy Dublin, try D4 hotels for pretty luxurious hotels for almost no money. They were taken over by the banks and are being run at very low margins

They do charge more during major sports events etc but check out the site and you can really bag a bargain.
If you can fly into Waterford or Cork you'll also get a great short break; most of the other airports are quite a distance from the main towns but there are really good transport links by bus etc
