My laptop broke a week or so ago, the screen went black & I have been told it's not
worth the money to have it repaired but however the images are still just about visable so somebody suggested hooking it up to a monitor via a VGA lead, I have a Wharfdale TV
with a VGA input on it so I tried it this morning but with limited luck, having linked the PC
& TV via the VGA lead I turned on the TV, selected pc monitor mode on the tv menu,
booted up the pc first of all the screen displayed "Auto Sync" then the Widows XP logo
with the bar showing it was loading, but then the screen turns blue showing the message
"No Signal" At first I thought it was just a poor cable connection but I have tried this 6 or 7 times now and the same things happen, any ideas what is wrong?

Make and model of the laptop would help, but the general answer is you need to switch on the VGA output when in windows, this is normally done by holding done the fn key and pressing whichever function key is assigned to switching the VGA port.
