maybe the offending individual comments are removed DE..? I am hazarding a guess, sometimes its annoying when an entire history of comments are removed, particularly if the user had been helpful at some point in their time on AB

There was a loss of something like 25,000 answers (a very great many of which were immensely helpful, in the genealogy section) to Answerbank.

I suppose the Eds may take the view that just as the helpful posts of people who no longer visit the site remain in perpetuity for others to read through, suspended-users may have contributed something positive to the site (despite themselves, in some cases)at some point...........

I don't understand a lot of things but I don't mind as long as profane/abusive postings are removed and I have no problems with users having multiple names (and there are some on this thread) as long as they don't make it clear they are fooling us.
I have noticed though that lots of posts from perma- banned users (eg TPFKAK) are still on here.
