Firstly, why do you have to use such insulting language? You must be completely aware that 'queer' is considered a derogatory term nowadays.
Secondly - society did. As an intelligent, self-aware beings, humans have created something called society. Society (like humanity) has its ugly side, but humans have also created something else - reason - to help us improve it. As beings who have discovered reason, it's our responsibility to assess our society and question it at every opportunity. At some point in the C20, we reasoned that two men in a partnership is of no real consequence to anyone else. Later, various studies (as I understand it) indicated that same-sex parents aren't much better or worse than heterosexual ones (much in the same way that single parents aren't). As this thread demonstrates, the debate over whether this means same-sex parents should be able to raise families or not is still ongoing.
You seem fairly surprised that suddenly people are questioning the values society holds on this. This is nothing new and is entirely healthy for reasons I have outlined. If you have failed to keep aware of how society examines itself, that's your own fault.
