Most of our furniture came from second hand shops back in the 70's!! Stripped down and still going strong.
Have had new beds and new lounge seating though. I like to be comfortable. I have never had a bedroom suite (don't want one) or matching furniture. Have just accumulated over the years. Looks OK though. I colour match and we do live in a house that is about 250 years old.
I have a chest freezer in the garage that is 40 years old. I bought it just after my daughter was born. so far it has survived 6 house moves. The handle has come off and the lid is rusty, but it still keeps going (fingers crossed!)
My daughter bought us a replacement microwave for Christmas even though the previous one was still working after 25 years. I used to be able to do everything with the original one with my eyes closed but now I need to find my glasses first. To be fair it is half the size and has twice the options
