Loo not flushing

I have a loo which has a push flush in the top (not a handle) and it flushed earlier then after I'd used some more tissue to blow my nose I tried to flush it again and it wouldn't and hasn't since.

I've neverhad a problem before in it flushing soon after. I managed to get the top off and there are two separate parts inside, one where water seems to be hissing out of one part - looks like the wrong place to me like something was loose but can't find anything I can tighten.

The other bit is connected to the flush itself (it screws onto it).

As there is no set up like the usually ballcock etc... I haven't a clue what to do to fix it.

There was very little water in there either so I'm guessing that may be why it's not flushing.

If anyone has any ideas what might be wrong and how I can fix it I'd be very grateful. I only have one loo so am panicking a bit!

these modern replacements to the ballcocks can have life of their own, mine broken because I have a big flush and small flush button on top of mine and when pushed the one pressed in can get stuck under the adjacent button, which resulted in the toilet flushing constantly however it was not big time flushing it had effected the float system and was just refilling the cistern constantly which through the over flow system emptied into the bowl.

I had to turn the water to the toilet off but for some reason weeks later when I had used the toilet and forgot to turn water off again it appeared to be fixed anyway and not overflowing, was just about to pay to get it fixed.

It still fills slow though...... so

'Builder' is there any way to change the flow volume 'in' to make it fill quicker or is it fixed or based on the pressure in the water pipes?

Whattie .......... Doc will know better than I, but I think it's set.............. just depends on your incoming pressure.

Im only asking about another tank because thats what I have for my toilets and washing machine....yes I wash my clothes in 100% rainwater...well at least I dont have to beat the wte clothes against a rock to dry them I use the tumble drier for that lol.

Yes mines rented too but its like an eco new build, so this is not standard

As Doc say's these kind of valves often have flow reducers fitted
It is found inside the base of the inlet valve. The one pictured was removed a couple of days go... the customer said her cistern took 2 minutes to fill. Since the reducer was removed it takes 30 seconds.

Yes, Torbek valves. I've used a lot of those. Quick and easy to fit.
Doc ............. I guess if Jenna doeasn't have any success with the old valve, she might just as well buy one of those and get someone to fit it for her if she's not confident?

I will :) I am a little confused but so grateful for the advice - will have to read it through a good few times before taking any action :) At least it is flushing as long as I leave it a bit to fill up to immediate panic over!

Am tucked up on sick sofa at present as think I have an ear infection so trying to keep warm and get right and just way too much to do.

I will have a fiddle later and let you know how I get on :)

Reckon you need to raise the water level, there should be a fill line inside the cistern, when water stops it should be upto the line if not, you need to adjust the float arm till water is on the line.

Sounds like the water level is to low. You need to adjust the float arm to raise the water level to the fill line marked inside cistern. Be a good idea to check if there is an isolation valve or you know where the stop cock is.
