As a matter of interest only how much would a funeral cost.? ! hearse, 1car ,cremation.

a friends mothers small funeral she had recently cost her around £1,800

My friend's husband died recently, and she only had one family car for the funeral as a second would have cost another £300.

My husband's funeral two and a half years ago, cost me £2,400 but did include a two person plot and burial.

Welsh is right, it would be at least that much. Not sure how to get a funeral on the cheap, except join the Armed Forces and then get killed in action.

Cremation £500+. You can use any suitable box/coffin & your own car or van. Dispose of ashes yourself.

Sorry, tamborine, can you tell the rest of us what a funeral allowance is? Who qualifies for it, and how much is it? Never heard of it before, I regret to say.

johnnyboy, I contacted Help the Aged who sorted my late OHs pension for me. The funeral cheq was for £1,200.

Only just seen the other responses and yes, Tambo I did get an allowance, your link outlines the qualifying circumstances but I would say to anyone if you are not sure then ask.

My dads funeral is on Friday. He stated that he only wanted me and his wife there and he wanted the cheapest funeral possible. So we told the directors a basic coffin and that's it. No cars, no minister, no flowers, zilch.
That grand total is. £1990.00!
