Hi Sqad,
I was wondering if you could give me some advice regarding my sister. When she was pregnant last year, she suffered with lots of kidney/water infections and even passed a stone once. She had the baby in Oct and has just had/got a kidney infection now. She was given antibiotics on Tues eve but they've been making her so ill, I think they were Trimethoprim. She was in agony yesterday with pains, feeling so weak etc and like she'd been kicked in her stomach and back.
She went back to doctors today as she was still feeling so ill and have bloody wee. She isn't able to finish antibiotics as they are making her too ill, she was sick as soon as she left doctors.
The doctor said some antibiotics can make people really ill. She was quite concerned that someone of my sister's age had blood and protein in her urine. They are sending it off today to see if it grows anything so they know what they are dealing with exactly and referring her for a kidney scan.
Sorry for the long post. What are your thoughts? Thanks

Certainly blood and protein in the urine is something that does need investigating by a Urologist. It may well be associated with a single urinary infection, but she has had multiple urinary infections and a renal stone, which makes further specialist investigation a priority.
Abnormalities causing recurrent urinary tract infections may be lurking in the bladder, ureter or kidneys.
