oh, and by the way, the reason I had a doubt that the answer Aztecan might be wrong, is because I think, it is called Uto-Aztecan, and not just Aztecan on it's own ?

According to Wikipedia there are over 50 mexical languages!!! Gives us something to work on anyway but think I will leave it for now

I think the clue means part of a word for decorations will give you the name of a tree. Falderols (another spelling of folderols) means gew gaw or ornament. It contains the word Alder.
Tzeltal is a Mexican Indian tribe and language giving the L. Presumably tea is the other answer although I'm having a bit of trouble making it fit the clue.
