coincidences

I've experienced some truly amazing coincidences over the years and I romantically wonder if they mean or signify anything. Do you think there are messages or whatever to be read into coincidences or are they just...well...coincidences?

not sure of the significance but it was very strange

My auntie was married to someone with a drink problem. Don't get me wrong, he was a great guy, but when he was 'on a bender'....not nice at all. Over the years of my childhood this affliction caused a lot of problems within my family - his speciality was wrecking family weddings. I once recall him crawling up the stairs of the coach home from the big do! - haha. Please don't think me unsympathetic, because I actually liked him a lot, and wish things could have been better for him.
Anyway, my mother, all through my childhood when there was this kind of trouble, used to always say how she wished my auntie had married 'Johnny Jones' (not his real name!), a boyfriend she had dated before my uncle. My mother evidently thought a lot of this man.
Anyway, time passed, and when I was in my twenties, my auntie died unexpectedly. The next day in the local paper there was my auntie's death notice, and right under it, Johnny Jones's death notice. They had died on the same day. My mother was incredulous saying so if they'd got married like I wanted, they'd have died on the same day? Weird or what.

I am a strong believer in fate and destiny, sometimes to the point that it freaks me out. Sometimes the universe teases me with signs and sometimes when I think it's all just coincidence something happens and I think it's not.
I had a theory about trying too hard to make things happen and fate and destiny go into your life and re-arrange everything so that it doesn't work out.
There is a film out soon called Adjustment Bureau that deals with just that idea, spooky....
