HOUSE ALARM
2 Answers
When the power goes off (not very often) the alarm usually sounds for a few seconds then settles down to the normal working.
The last time the power went off the alarm came on and was going for at least an hour.
The cables to the battery had to be disconnected and mains feed cable also had to be
disconnected - both of course inside the alarm box.
The buttons on the alarm which are used to reset were pressed but nothing happened, and, there was no sound from each of the buttons which usually happens when any of the buttons are pressed - this was tried before the power went off.
It is an Colt OPTIMA XM.
Any ideas and help would be appreciated

Then enter engineers mode (default) and you can set the passwords etc. You'd really need the instruction manual for jumper settings and default passwords etc. As to why the alarm sounded with power off. It could be that the system has reset itself and is reverting to its default setting of sounding alarm in the event of a power cut (i.e. in case someone trys to cut cables to bypass alarm).
