anybody know how to get old masking tape off car paintwork? tape that has dried and gone hard !

Soaking with water may help

If it is old enough to have gone hard, I'm surprised it hasn't been an issue earlier. Can't think of anything obvious, "with care" seems the best option. If the car paintwork is protected/grazed/whatever then some spirit rubbed over may help, but maybe try on an inconspicuous part of the paintwork first?
