the police?
You reckon?
a policeman ex lover told me once if you are not prevented from leaving your property it isn't against traffic regs but it is if they stop you getting out ie if your car is on your frontage or in your garage... but they woulod be too busy to deal with it anyway
Hi, if you have a proper drive with dropped kerbs then it is now illegal to park over them. The law was changed a few years ago, before that it was as rowanwitch says and only against the law to block someone in so that they can't leave the property. As for the other I don't think you can get double yellow lines put outside your property.
Preventing access to the highway from your drive is classed as obstruction and as such it is an offense, and should be a police matter. Alas, the law says nothing about blocking your driveway from the highway, so you're on your own there.
If people park on your drive, maybe you could put up a deterrent sign, like, ''Wheel clamping in operation''!
Or one o those bars with a key so only you can put the bar down, but it doesn't stop people parking on the road which could still block you.
You don't want double yellow lines, you want one of those white bone-shaped lines painted across the road along your drive opening to show that it's an access way. Have you already got dropped kerbs? You apply to the council for the white marking and you have to pay for it - I did it about 15 years ago and it was about £50 then.
If I remember correctly you just need to drop the kerb, this will cost a bit though, it then becomes a parking offence to park infront of it.
Anyone who parks across your drive won't bother about yellow lines. If you had a trolley jack you could jack the rear of the car up and push it out the way.
Sign on wall `Private Property.Clamping in Progress.` £20.00 to release.
get a local road markings company to come and put a white line across your drive, the planning dept of the local council will object if they find out about it but just deny any knowledge of it being done
Hi let all the tyer's downJIM
In short, yes. If you have a drop down kerb, anyone parking across thereby stopping your access is committing the offence of obstruction. If however you don't have a drop down so that you drive over the kerb to your parking you are committing an offense.
