I have just listened to this on BBC Radio Scotland and a further discussion about its effects. I would not be surprised if some nutters regard it as offensive.

Personally, I thought it was superb.

I thought it was very clever - and it's not as it the singer is not from "a similar culture" - interesting the bloke on the TV programme also appeared to be of "eastern appearance" (I think he looks Iranian). I think it's witty and funny, not offensive at all. As naz says, offence is in the eye of the beholder.
