screen warning .

My friends pc switches on quite normal then when she comes to get Internet explorer nothing comes through and there is a warning on her screen of systems tool comes up that she has over 30 viruses ect and when she clicks on that a thing comes up for her to buy security and it is in dollars. She already has security. She cannot get into her own security to check anything. Another thing that came up was Appliciation cannot be found file ytbb exe please activate anti virus but she can't get anything to open to do anything. Can anyone explain what might be happening . I have only had a virus once and I managed to clear it with my own security but I am no expert on what is happening to hers.

She has a virus, she got it when she clicked on the popup - its a con.

What the name of warning software?

No reputable company will ever do this if you ever get one just shut it down and runs scans.

The PC sounds infected. Certainly with ads but where there is that then there is likely to be more. There are some knowledable folk here that may be on later to advise. Otherwise I've often got help from http://www.pchelpforum.com/forum.php if no one here solves it for you. Meanwhile I'd not do anything that risks your private info. In your shoes I might even take that PC off the Net or even power it down until you start to try to fix it.

The security warnings she is getting is the infection and is what is stopping their normal security running.

I'd say run a full scan with malwarebytes in safe mode but to do it you'll probably have to download the software on a different computer.... so...

1) download malwarebytes on your computer and once it's downloaded transfer it to a memory stick or a CD.

2) turn on infected computer and as soon as you've pressed the power button start tapping the F8 key until you see a menu come up (if you see the windows logo you are too late). Select safe mode with networking from the menu.

3) once the computer has started in safe mode install malwarebytes from the CD or usb memory stick, let it update when it's finished installing and then run a full scan (not a quick scan). Remove anything it's found at the end of the scan.

Hopefully you can now restart the computer and all will be well.

Thanks everyone will let her read this but like me I don't think I would try and resolve it myself as not too tech but at least she will understand what is happening and I do know someone that did a repair on mine and is quite good .I have Malwarebytes on my pc but I don't think she can click on anything even to download it ..

Ah, she is more PC savvy that yourself then. You should watch her as she tries to fix it; you could learn something new. But you may need to download the suggested application and take it over to her, unless she has a 2nd PC she can use.

Yes, ran Malwarebytes on mine as one of the actions last time I had a problem.

If it is the 'System Tool' virus then I had it recently and by following chucks method above I got ride of it

If it's 'System Tool', on the infected PC go to 'start', then 'all programs', then 'accessories', then 'system tools', then 'system restore'. She can then chose a date before the infection and 'restore' the computer to that time.

I got exactly this last Sunday as did a work colleague. I didn't do it but a friend followed similar advice to above. A system restore and scan got rid of it. I was cross that it got through my paid for Avast security and that has been removed and Microsoft Security Essentials installed. It's a pain ins't it.
