any knitting experts out there,is it possible to use 3ply wool for a 4ply pattern by using different needles.have a big ball of 3ply and am struggling finding baby cardi patterns?

It would make the item smaller when finished, so you would need to increase the needle size to get to the correct tension, probably at least one size larger, possibly two, depending on your whether you knit loosely or tightly.
There are lots of free patterns on the internet , for knitting, crochet and sewing, if you Google it.

can't help you out with your question but its always useful to know if you want to knit something in Double Knitting but only have 4ply then use two strands of 4ply. Likewise, if you want Aran but only have Double Knitting, use two strands of DK for the right thickness. hope this helps for future projects
