I'm trying to think of something that I can easily do a meat and non-meat version of as I personally don't think its a proper meal if it doesn't have meat in it so don't want to cook an all-veggie meal but don't want to do something totally different for the veggie - any ideas please? Thanks

Thanks tiggs that sounds great too, am putting that in my little book :)
What I've decided to do this time is make the curry sauce I usually make, but with extra veg in it and no meat. I'm then going to marinate some chicken, some tofu and some paneer and cook it separately on skewers, then serve it with the veg curry spooned over it and rice and naan on the side. Whilst they wait for this culinary masterpiece I'll cook some indian starters from Tesco lol.

Now, what should I do for dessert?! I'm thinking something light like a fruit mousse.
Roasted sweet potatoe is lovely in a curry. As it is on the expensive side it is also special!!
i agree with the curry or chilli options, simply separate some before adding the meat

you could then just add extra veg to that portion or add some quorn mince or chunks

then otherwise everythign else is the same

i am a veggie and i hate feeling like someone has had to go to a lot of trouble for me so i like it when its been quite easy for them to sort.
some people have gone to great effort for me in the past and i am grateful though.

or what about some kind of hotplate buffet type situation where people just help themselves to whatever is there?

i have found in the past when this has happened the meat eater welcome the veggie options too and will have a bit.

a friend once made a separate veggie lasagne for me, it was way too much for one and it actually went down better with the meateaters than the meat one!
if they have said they are veggie then they won't eat fish (or they aren't veggie) but probably are not vegan as they would have said so!

as a veggie, i hope my hosts have put *some* thought into the menu, but will not draw too much attention to the fact that i may be the only veggie!

i would do a selection of dishes which can be enjoyed by everyone, some not available to the veggie but nobody would know!

the above curry and accessories idea is an excellent idea!

i also recommend (depending on how many guests overall) a shepherdless pie with sweet potato mash, served next to fish pie with ordinary mash and a meaty pie with pastry (so everyone has a choice), alongside huge jacket spuds and salads, garlic and french breads!
