On the IMDB message boards one can choose to ignore an individual user, so that the text of their postings is replaced by a message to the effect that they are on one's ignore list. The list of ignored users can be managed within ones user profile.

Any chance of implementing something similar here?

If the "ignore" feature was put into effect, that would mean some posters would end up talking to themselves, I like it!
me too, what a great idea
i suspect it woudl lead to a lot of confusion, when others say something refering to something the hidden user has said, and you dont undertsand, also a lot of repeated answers because you cant see it... could be a bit odd for others too
that is a very sensible idea, bibblebub.
gets my vote.
It's very easy to ignore people on here, I do it all the time. I'm also very good at ignoring people in my day to day life, it's not rocket science, just don't pay them any attention.

got to agree with joko, I hate it when someone comments on a post that's since been removed and you're baffled as to what was said.
If i wanted to ignore a post I'd just move my eyes past that post quicker than I would if I were going to read it! Sciencey or what!?!
