Drug combination
4 Answers
I have suffered from depression on and of for many years - I am 55. Over a 18 months ago I became ill again and was prescribed Mirtazapine plus Citalopram and this combination worked well for me. I did not miss a single day's work for a year.
2 months ago I became quite depressed again and my psychiatrist increased the Citalopram from 10mg to 20mg in the morning plus taking 45mg of Mirtazapine at night. I had hoped that this would help but i feel I have been getting more depressed and have days when I feel I just want to go to sleep and not wake up. I have been off work for 6 weeks and this is distressing me.
Does anyone know if this is a common side effect of this combination of drugs?
I am afraid to tell the doctor as I have been hospitalised many times in the past and do not want to go down this route again but I just want my life back and am worried about losing my job.
