I want to make soda bread but haven't any buttermilk, I know you can make it by adding white vinegar or lemon juice to ordinary cows milk but I don't know whether to use skimmed, semi-skimmed or whole milk, I can't find any reference to it anywhere but
I'm sure someone out there will know. Thanks, Kath.

I'd use semi skimmed.
Buttermilk is sold in any of the Big Supermarkets, see it in Morrisons when I go there and occasionally buy it to drink.
Semi or whole. NOT skimmed.

You can also stir a spoonful of plain yoghurt into some whole milk. This is fine for soda bread.
