i just bought a 1995 1.4i escort and want to know where the fuel cut off button is located as i have no manual thanks

If I remember correctly its behind the panel to the right of the drivers feet in the footwell (or it might be to the left in the passenger one!). You are looking for a rectangular white button.

"The switch is located in the side panel in front of the driver's door.  To gain access remove the plug with a coin.  The button will be raised when the switch has been activated."

Reset the fuel pump by pushing in the button after first checking for leaks.  Turn ignition on for a few seconds, switch off and make a further check for leaks before assuming all ok. Remember to replace the plug.
