I see that trux and Starwalker have posted already, elsewhere. As I did, they quickly found the quotation and are now working hard.

What is the "alphabetical rule" mentioned in some posts? To use a Scottish (specifically in my case, Glasgow - I wonder if Augeus us a Scot, as he(?) uses several Scots words) I haven't a scooby.
Alas, I had to buy a copy of Bradford's to complete this week's. I too therefore have to join the bandwagon of folks complaining about this debut. There are just too many possibilities (Bradford's is definitely not exhaustive on the subject) and too few letters from the clued entries to be able to whittle the list down.
At first it looked like Invisible Ink which i did not like at all but the end was actually pretty good fun. Chances are 50/50 at best that it is correct as checking is not my strong suit. Alphabetic thing slightly lame but only affected a small number of cells and not sure how else it could be done. Thanks Augeus.
Completed (?) this morning, despite being diverted, at one point,(because I counted wrongly) to Bangladesh, when I should have been in Kent. Also diverted by trying to check initial letters of actual words, as opposed to ENTRIES. Having read the thread, I'm now worried because I didn't seem to have the number of dilemmas that many contributors seem to have had. I found the checking of A RUN ON GUINEA laborious but very helpful, especially with the resolution of 17dn. Enjoyed the clues. Learned some new (to me) words 14Ac, 29Ac, 2Dn, 21Dn.
