herbal does it every time ;o)
Yup, I don't like the stuff, but chocolate. Two squares of very dark chocolate, I'm talking about the Lindt 85 or 90% cocoa solids for a week before you go to the doctors, and your blood pressure will be lower. It's bitter and not meant to be enjoyed, but it WORKS.

Thx Icg76. Any views on homeopathic remedies? The royal family use these practictioners so if it's good enuugh for them it's good etc!! But does it work! Hmm.
I meant to say two squares every day - I think there's 10 squares in a block
Ive been reading about chili for that exact reason, amazing properties, check it out online, here is one to start you off http://www.sciencedai...0/08/100803132734.htm

why don't you try using relaxation techniques. when anyone is uptight, blood pressure rises! homeopathic remedies and herbal remedies need to be prescribed by a qualified therapist otherwise, off the shelf products don't work. a lso you could try hypnotherapy and learn the relaxation techniques there.
I eat one or two squares, sometimes I melt it in coffee because I don't like chocolate of any sort, but i'm no longer on blood pressure tablets
Sainsbury thwart me by restricting my bulk aspirin purchase.

Thx guilliebrougue. I have relaxation CD's and have been informed how to relax by breathing exercises. Maybe at 67 I ought to stop going in Splash World at Butlins eh!? Not tried hypnotherapy yet.

brenda. Sounds great. Hope it works for me. Shall giv it a try. Doc's tablets make me feel faint.
no dont give up your fun. but do try hypnotherapy. you say you have been told how to relax. that is on this level, you need to be shown whilst in hypnosis first. also the therapist can with your help and permission to see if there is a cause deep down inside causing your problem. believe me with the right approach it works.

Thanks again guilliebrougue. I may well giv Hypno a go.
There is plenty of advice via the internet, the main gist of which privides these tips:

* Don't smoke cigarettes or use any tobacco product.
* Lose weight if you're overweight.
* Exercise regularly.
* Eat a healthy diet that includes lots of fruits and vegetables and is low in fat.
* Limit your sodium, alcohol and caffeine intake.
* Try relaxation techniques or biofeedback.

I work in the NHS and I'm afraid my view of homeopathy is somewhat summed up by this:

Hi Philtaz, I'm doing all that you suggest & hav been for sometime. A couple of my friends take Lisinopril to lower their BP & hav since been given stronger doses cos it ain't doing the trick so ya can't blame me for having a 'go' at Alternative suggestions! Maybe treating like-with-like isn't the answer but herbs seem to be a good alternative allegedly. By the way, my BP is about 144/84. Not bad for my age apparently.
