a gang is a rocker switch on your switch or socket face.a one gang lightswitch has one rocker switch and a one gang socket outlet will accept one plug, a two gang s/o will accept two plugs, one in either side.
do not confuse this with one way/ two way lighting.one way is a light controlled at one switch but two way is a light (s) controlled by two separate switches i.e. stairs/landing or probably your garage
A gang is a grouping of similar or identical control devices, such as switches or rheostats, sometimes mechanically connected so that the group is controlled with a single lever or shaft.

ok, er, I think i understand...at least I will when I've read it a few times. Thanks!
Gets more complicated when you get onto four gang and up to 18 gang in offices
gets even more complicated if you get into networking.... a one gang will take two sockets so you end up with a 2 way one gang socket :)

This is what my partner was on about and I was trying to understand - all the different one/two gang sockets permutations which were available . He asked me(!!) what I thought the difference was between this kind & that kind. It all got very complicated so I thought I'd ask all you experts out there what it was all about. The upshot of it was that he was gonna ask the guys in B&Q tomorrow morning. Thanks anyway to all who answered.
I was going to report this as pornographic, but I think it's just my mind.
Gets even more complicated when you get a 24 gang and three phase at it.
Silly question Patiodors, are you going to get new switches or sockets to change around your home cause if you are then I suggest, as a sparky, that you get someone who is qualified to change them for you as if you don't know the difference between one gang and two gang then you wont for deffo understand where all the cables go....
I would imagine that most civilians would not be familiar with the term one gang two gang etc disco
After an hour my PS3 finally recognised my new bluetooth headset- but it is not working there is no speaker icon on my uer name -it beeps when i press button and blue light is on but does not work.
i get no confirmation just the name of my headset and" register new headset option" - (which i think is part of the confusing pairing option) When the scan starts -nothing happens
