How much of your own life should you give up to be a good nan

Very Important, I am happy to give as much of my time to my grandchildren as I can, I enjoy every second spent with them!.............they give so much to me!.............

I really hope I'm the same Welsh. My Nan has been great throughout my life...a lovely woman who I was blessed with..

I do understand about the importance of spending good value time with the grandchild(ren), but postage OP seems to be housekeeping for her daughter so that the daughter can manage the child. On top of working full time. It's a big ask and I'm not sure whose need this is.

My GD lives too far away now to come to see me every week. But I hope she has happy memories when I used to have her for a week at a time when she was pre-school while her mum and dad were either abroad or working. I remember those days very well, we had fun.

Well yes Boxy - I don't agree with that. Most of us manage(d) to do the housekeeping as well as bringing up our children...

Nan's should be available to help out from time to time...just like a friend would. It should be really all about time spent with the child though and having that special bond...

I know what you mean gran, my son and his girls live nearly 200 miles away now, however I lived close when the girls where young, we all have lovely memories from when they were younger, they call me 'crazy Nan'...............I love it!.....now I have two little grandsons living just 5 miles away, I see them most days!............they call me 'silly Nanny'..............love that too!.........they are all quite right....wouldn't have it any other way, they bring out the fun in me!...............lol...............
