My dad was telling me he has a copy of his grandads census that he completed in 1911, same as the recent one, he had to send it in by a certain day, he filled it in the week before with name of his son, but when he sent it he had to cross the name out and put 'died' next to it. :-( Just a little story for you all.
Someone in my tree listed all her children on her 1911 census return..............4 of which were married and living elsewhere and 1 who had been dead for 32 years.
How sad 4getmenot, but in those days it was quite commonplace for families to bury at least one child. Of course it didn't make it any easier for them, but I'm sure they must have borne in mind the chances.
the 1911 return was the first one to ask how many years someone had been married and how many children living or dead. How old was the son who died before the 1911 census night?
