The price of a night out
36 Answers
Don't go out that often, usually have friends round or go to theirs, but me and my mate went for a drink tonight for the first time in a couple of months.
Ordered two large wines, had a tenner out ready as its usually around £8.50, that'll be £10.20 said the barmaid!
I could get 3 bottles for that at the local shop! It'll be another two months before we venture out again!
What are the bar prices like where you are?

The Claydon Crown is about 5 minutes away from me on the bus. (But not, regrettably, in the evenings because Suffolk County Council have just withdrawn all evening services around here). My cousin is a Witches fan but I've never seen the attractions of Foxhall Stadium myself.

The brewery boss cites a precise year (1879, I think) but I've not asked him to prove his source!
As the company boss, head brewer and pub landlord, he's often to be found 'mingling' in the pub. He makes a point of greeting every new customer. Afterwards he can often be seen standing by the door (rather like the church vicar) shaking people's hands as they leave and thanking them for their custom.
Scotman:
As stated above, the pub is owned by a tiny little brewery:

I went out for a meal last night in a gastro pub with a nichelin star... £60 for my mate, £40 for me (I didn't have a starter)... The food wasn't that good but the wine was ok. We only had one bottle and it was £22, and that was one fo the cheaper ones. Going out can be expensive, it's why I try not to be too sociable...
