flipping iphone (again)

Do I have to buy a special programme to download the stuff on my phone to my 'iphone library' on my laptop or is it hidden in the mystical world of the iTunes-thingy? PS - I am completely clueless so feel free to answer in words of one syllable. Thanks for any help offered.

If you connect the phone to itunes on the computer, it should just do it.

Tried that and no joy - it wants to update my phone and has told me to save my stuff to my iphone library - do you reckon I could just update it and take the risk?

Updating the iphone won't wipe anything on it.

What is it that's missing from your library? An app? ibook? Music?

when u update it should do a back up automatically first , after your update it will restore the contents of your iphone

okay, look to the left and see devices. click on your iphone and you will get to a page that says iphone, bottom right there is a button that says synch, click on that and it should copy your stuff to the library

mine isn't automatic, it tells me to do it before I update

Hi all (thanks for your patience) - it asked me if I wanted to update to version 4 something, I clicked yes and then it said to save my stuff as some paid for apps might get lost. I don't have any music on it or books.

Hi woof gang - I actually managed to get it to sync this afternoon (I don't know how), do you reckon I can assume that it has updated whatever it needs to update?

Your apps should be there when you sync your phone with your computer ragardless of whether you update or not, but I updated that very same thing a few weeks back and I didn't lose any of my apps, paid for or otherwise.
