It was a pity he made such a mess of the Suez operation (made worse by our allies U.S.A.) His record as a foreign sec and as a statesman was good. Maybe good politicians find the P.M. job more than they can handle. The tide of opinion against him in the country was so powerful after Suez. Was in Trafalgar Square chanting "Eden must go", though felt sorrt for him at the same time.
