Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a gps unit. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is asked to do is if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache.

I've done it quite a few times - a few years back when it first started and was still fairly basic: put the coordinates in your GPS press 'Go to' and follow the moving arrow until you find the buried box. So it was a bit boring and unchallenging. But now it's come on a bit: clues can be cryptic; one box can lead to another; there are 'sets' of caches to find, etc.
The boxes can contain anything: I remember Xmas decorations; CDs; CD-ROMs; books; a spanner; pens; jewellery; even a titanium watch in one cache. The rule is simple: you can take one object provided you leave one.
