What am I doing wrong please?

My Lap-Top has the following connections.

External Monitor Port VGA
USB Port

My TV has the following connections.
2 Scart connectors
Component In, Audio input (phono jacks0

You have to switch on the VGA port on the laptop. which will be done by pressing the FN key and another key.

Look along the top F keys on the laptop for one that has something that looks like two monitors, or says LCD/CRT on it and it will probably be that. if you can't find it post the make and model of the laptop.

You'll need a standard VGA cable for the video and a 3.5mm jack to 2 times RCA(phono) for the audio. and then you'd need to press FN and F3 to switch the external display on.

FN + F3 toggles the display between internal display only, both displays, external display only and then back to internal only

the leads are (these are 5metre ones, if you don't need that long then shorter ones may be cheaper)

VGA

Oh, and you could also use the S-video output on the laptop with a different lead, but the quality through S-video is rubbish compared to VGA.
Hold on...... sorry made a mistake...

this is the lead you need for the audio

My apologies.
