Please help

I dont know what to do from ere.my Neighbours next door av reported me for making noise.I am 56 and never been reported for enything before.I av been a council tenent for 20+years.I get on with all my othere neigbours and thay all know me verry well.The council now are monitoring me.I dont know why thay are doing this,thay moved in about 6 years ago.and thay told me we wont you out"only them said this".I get on with all my neigbours and have no probems with them.I have lived in my pressent home for 10 years,
well before thay moved in.The council have taken there side..I am only riting thiis becouse i can not take enymore.I have had so much to take.sorry about the spelling.I live by myself and if it was not for my freind i would have taken the pills i have saves up.Thank for reading this.iI have never wrote enything like this before.bye.jeff.

Stop worrying!

All sorts of people get letters from the council about (alleged) 'noise pollution'. My friend is 77 years old. She's a 'model citizen', whom many people turn to for help and advice. She's also as 'law abiding' as it's possible to be. (She'd go into a panic if someone said that she might have accidentally dropped a piece of litter!). But, a few months ago, an un-named fellow-resident of her block of flats reported her to the council because of the (alleged) "excessive noise" coming from her flat. For a while she really let it get her down but now (while she's still trying to reduce the volume on her TV a bit, and also trying to stop her dogs from barking too much) she's decided to largely ignore her critic(s) and to simply get on with living her life.

If a 'totally respectable' lady of 77 years can get a complaint from the council (and she's not even a council tenant!), anyone can!

If there are ways that you can reduce the noise level from your property then, obviously (in the interests of local harmony), you'd be wise to do so. However the old motto of "Don't let the b@stards grind you down" would seem to apply here!

I see from your profile that you're new to this site. If you keep on posting you'll probably find that we're a strange lot around here but we do try to help as well ;-)

Buenchico is right, try not to let it worry you too much, you have not done anything wrong and the council will learn this if as you say they are monitoring you. It sounds as though you have other things on your mind as well. Please keep writing on here and let us know how things are going, there's usually a lot of support here.

hey....big big hugs........do not worry things will get better.....do you have a friend that can help with a letter.... or go with to the council offices and sort things out...i think you will find that this is nothing to worry about... take heart and if all faild keep posting here...we will help you...won't we chaps !!!

Don't worry love, they can't find anything by 'monitoring' you if there's nothing to find, can they? How are they doing this monitoring anyway? And what is the noise supposed to be?

I don't think it's wise to save up tablets, take them all back to the chemist who will dispose them properly - it's not worth the risk harming yourself over something that could easily be sorted out.

You said the council have taken their side - what makes you think that? Is it because they have written to you? Councils are duty bound to investigate any and all complaints - even if they know there is absolutely no foundation to them, they don't automatically believe the complainer, they just have a job to do. And if you are not making any undue noise the council will realise that the complaint is unfounded and do no more about it - but they will also now be aware that the complaining neighbour 'has it in for you' and will be less likely to believe any future complaints by them. See if the council has an ASSIST section - they mediate neighbour disputes and they may be able to smooth things over with your neighbours (they are not just for council tenants either). Try not to worry about it or let it get you down - you'll find a lot of supportive folk on here so keep posting whenever you feel the need. Good luck x

gosh'i feel sorry for your troubles,its easy eneugh to say 'dont worry'i think your a bit like me ,getting worked up about the slightest thing,but hang in there,the guys on this site are great and helped me out with a lot of my problems,we are here all the time for you.((((((((hug))))))))
