Black women are uglier than whites, Asians, Native Americans...FACT
Satoshi Kanazawa from the LSE published his findings on a blog today which deals in a scientific study on attractiveness which rates black women as physically unattractive compared to other races.

Leaving aside the veracity of his findings (and we can all empirically find many, many exceptions to his 'rule'), can someone explain why such a study needs to be made? What does it tell us? How are we educated/informed by the findings? Are we enriched?
And can something so subjective be measured scientifically? For instance, I think that Uma Thurman is stunningly beautiful, but a mate of mine think she looks like an ironing board that's been taught how to walk upright...so how can beauty or attractiveness be measured?

I agree with OP I find Uma Thurman unattractive too. I would have said that Asian women are unattractive race, but recently I have seen some young asian women/girls, more westernised - who looked really stunning. The same could be said for some African women (possibly Somalian) who are naturally tall and gracefully slim. But each to his own. there are a quite a...

How anyone can be so rude & unfeeling is beyond me. I regard the whole of the human race as being beautiful, I once new a woman who was facially disfigured & she was one of the most beautiful women I have ever known because she was so elegant & couldn't do enough to help other people ( she was black by the way) Ron.

It does make you wonder how people obtain funding to carry out this research - if there is a 'point' to it, i find it hard to find.
Of course beauty is subjective. Having worked with a lot of photographers, i have learned to see how an apparently unexceptional woman can look utterly stunning when photogrphed.
A great exmple is Danielle Lloyd - in person I thinik she is actually plain, and would not glance twice if i passed her in the street. On photographs she is absolutely gorgeous!
Just goes to show - we all see everything and everyone differently, and amen to that.

Hi doc
Airbrushing plays a part, but you can't polish poo, as the saying goes.
Models like DL have features that simply suit photograhs - yes they can be embelished with make-up and lights, but the photogenic features have to be there to begin with.
You couldn;t make Fiona Phillips or 'Doctor' (snigger!) Gillian Mckeith look good with any amount of technology!

Andy you state
/// i have learned to see how an apparently unexceptional woman can look utterly stunning when photogrphed. ///
Then what have you got against these two Andy?

His findings also state that white men are uglier than black men. Why aren't you querying that one that sp1814?
Seriously, it's just a scientific game isn't it - there's a model of 'attractiveness' based on things like facial symmetry and how big your eyes are etc, and he's just fed a load of stats into a computer and found that more white women match the model than black ones.
It's a pointless and stupid thing to do, but who cares?
