Click the green tick thing next to your name and set it to invisible.

what, everyone who happens to be logged into skype can see you? I don't like the sound of that!

Thanks guys. I asked on behalf of my sister.

Can I also ask for me, I have a webcam. I plugged it into the USB port and it installed it, but I can't hear the Test Call ring or any sound at all. What else do I need to do?

Tools/Options
Click on Audio Settings
Then select the appropriate devices for Microphone, Speakers and Ringing.

Selective status is something people have been asking of Skype since day 1, but for some reason Skpe dont want to make this 2 minute coding fix.

Now Microsoft have bought Skype who knows what will happen to it, you can be sure it will end up a buggy piece of kit with ongoing security problems, and more features than people will know what to do with or want, and more ads.
