Anyone know of a decent garlic press? I managed to bust three in the last three years!! I've always gone for what I considered to be the solid, hinged type press and have tried different makes - the last one being a Maxwell Williams version.
I know I should really use a broad bladed knife if I'm going to do it properly, but I seem to be unable to master the technique!
Hello. i find TK Maxx have a wide range. the one im using at the moment is swiss and its called, Zyliss. it really is solid, and seeing as ive not managed to destroy it yet things are looking good.
Mercia - Like the look of your suggestion - I think radiogaga uses the same!
Scotman - can't remember the other two makes, but Maxwell Williams was the recent one that broke - all of them have gone at the hinge. I've always washed them by hand as the dishwasher doesn't always flush out the last little bits!
Anyway, maybe I need to master the technique using a broad bladed knife..... God help my fingers (or the knife) ha, ha!!
your heaviest knife, flat against the garlic, blade parallel to the work surface, and then just smash down on it with your fist or the palm of your hand.
Chop, chop with the knife and voila......No need for a press
