The leak comes from the area where the handle for turning it on and off meets the main structure of the tap. Since the last message I have turned the stop **** out the front but I turned it anticlockwise and the drip is much less so now i don't know.
As buildersmate rightly points out, turning the stop-tap down only reduces the flow rate not the pressure. The only way to reduce water pressure is to fit a PRV (Pressure Reducing Valve) just after the incoming mains stop-tap to keep the whole system pressure down or just before the problem outlet so as not to affect other outlets such as showers etc . That may need a higher pressure.
Thank you. Is there another reason why both of the new taps seem to be leaking between the lever and the main part of the tap? It can't be a faulty tap - that wouldn't happen twice. Could it be that the lever is positioned 45 degree angle to the tap rather than 90 degrees as if it was 90 degrees I wouldn't be able to push the lever back to get hot water.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
The position of the lever should have no effect and would'nt cause the leak from the gland as you describe. It does sound however that you are experiencing high pressure problems. The only other possible scenario is that you may have fitted low pressure gravity fed taps instead of high pressure ones but that shouldent make any difference as it is the other way round when you start to get problems, but maybe worth considering ???
Can anyone help with an ongoing issue with my shower ?
It will not work before 6.15 am in the morning but works fine at any other time.
Have had an engineer look at the shower twice and cannot find anything wrong.
The Water Board have checked the water pressure to find it okay although it was done during the day.
Have had enough so have just purchased a new shower but to my dismay it still does not work before 6.15 am !!!!
Can anyone help please ??
