Are the IMF political?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13668574
They say they are not! But they have just given Geo Osborne the green light to continue with his austerity policies which flys in the face of Labour who say he is on the wrong track.
Also if Gordon Brown had been elected to the head of the IMF could you really hear him saying "keep up the good work George"

"Gordon Brown had not been so awful at managing the countries finance maybe we would need the belt tighteing we have now got" So the banking community and the toxic mortgage debt had nothing to do with it.

left wing ideologies aren't always about helping people, if it were, why are things in such a mess. We have a labour council, and they are closing many libraries, making savage cuts to every vulnerable cause, yet they have a substantial war chest which could be used, but they prefer to bash the coalition with cuts, bleating on about how the nasty party has caused all this. Add to that mega bucks wage bill, bonuses and expenses for councillors, and their minions, no sorry, doesn't really wash.
Of course it washes. Just because the priority is on helping the less well off rather than allowing wealth creators free reign, doesn't mean that there are not times when you can not follow through with your ideals. The economy isn't on a permanent high. For example recently, there have been problems mainly because of bankers failing to do their job properly and assuming 'investments' were ok because their peers said so, without checking the process properly.
BTW if you can prove their is wealth that can be put to good use then you should make it clear in the local area since your left wing council would clearly not be adhering to their own aims. I suspect probably because they don't want to see their past prudence run down due to national government policies, thus proping up what they see as bad government policies, and so gaining the government credibility at their expense.
