Can help with the answers to these two questions.
Mixed up Prodigal (8) although this was answered some time ago as Paterson there is no such island unless some one can explain to me how they got the word.

I've been thinking of the feathered bird variety. Crowlin-crow+lin (half of linnet) but it has 7 letters. Inchcolm- inch half of hawfinch and colm the irish word for dove. Far too complicated. Think you've got the right bird!!
