help required

I am trying to remember the title of a novel I read some years ago. The plot concerns a person (female I think) who owns some kind of old tower/castle. Another person turns up with a view to renting this building (possibly restoring it?) and a relationship develops between them. It's a modern book and probably a 'literary' novel rather than a straightforward romance or adventure story. Can anyone help, please?
