Summer holiday with kids?

Hi, we're looking for a week - 10 day holiday in about 5 weeks time. 2 kids, ages 9 and 6. The problem is, my husband does't like hot beach holidays and the kids (and I) love them! Anyone got any suggestions for either a 'compromise' holiday, with some beach/pool/heat and something else to do too, or a warm but not boiling place to go? many thanks!

What sort of area are you thinking of? Britain, Europe, or futher afield?

Barcelona has just about everything anyone could want. It's packed with cultural sights and museums, while having some of the best bars and restaurants in Europe. It's easy to get around, with an excellent (and cheap) integrated transport system. A short train ride will take you to the nearby resorts on the Costa Blanca but Barcelona has its own excellent beaches anyway.

agree with Chris, Barcelona is great, has something for everyone!..............

I agree Chris, been there several times and do love it.
A week isn't very long tho but could always go back again & again and still not see it all.
There's always London too and just a train ride from a beach.
