My desktop PC is no longer able to pick up my (Virgin) wireless signal - the TV icon on the toolbar just flashes red and green as it picks up, then drops the signal. I've had no new electrical equipment which would interfere and haven't touched the (Netgear) router or modem and have had the PC checked by a friend who is able to get it working perfectly at his house. I have already been driven to distraction by spending half an hour on the phone to "customer services" who just read off a script and don't actually listen to what you're telling them but as I'm a novice when it comes to technology I'm at my wits end. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
I have tried that already stoofur - is usually my first response to anything not working! I can't understand why its playing up after 2 years and don't have a laptop I could test the connection with unfortunately.
Change the channel on the router, just because you've not got anything new that is interfering doesn't mean there is not something else nearby that is interfering.
If you press the reset button on your router you'll totally lose internet connection until you reconfigure your username and password in the routers admin pages again (and you'll revert back to unsecured wireless)
Thanks all so much for your suggestions. Resetting seemed to do the trick (plus some random clicking and password entering) and I got online just in time to see my friend announce the birth of her much wanted baby.
