This morning my H had his radio on in his 'Den' I had the radio on in the kitchen, we both had the same radio station on (Radio 2) I did notice then that they weren't in sync, the kitchen radio was about 3 seconds in front of Hs in his den.
I thought this most strange and wondered why this was.
Any of you tech/minded boffins know why?
Is one radio digital and the other analogue. The same effect is observable with TVs using different broadcast formats (analogue, freeview, satellite, etc.). Digital signals require a certain amount of time to be coded and decoded for transmission.
Well thanks for reply's but if that was the case we probably would have worked that out for ourselves. His radio coming from an old (80s) HI-FI
and mine from an old tranny I've had for years too.????
The effect you claim to have experienced – would not be possible if both the Hi-Fi and tranny were receiving on the same frequency.
Radio 2 is broadcast on a number of frequencies between 80.1 – 90.2 MHz, it is likely that they were receiving the same radio programme, broadcast on different frequencies – the transmissions of which were out of sync (for some reason). It is entirely possible that one of the FM transmitters was using a DAB feed for its audio signal – although why someone would want to do this when DAB audio is inferior to that of FM.
Mmmm! You may be right Hymie, dunno what frequency just turned radio on we always are tuned into radio 2. I suppose that would explain it.
I might splash out on a DAB radio now, about time I got rid of the old tranny. ThanQ.
